The main wedding day consist of the traditional Indian ceremony which is always held in the morning and brides are up quite early. This is to ensure all the rituals are carried out. Generally Indian bridal consists of a reception late afternoon. We cover all types of wedding style looks from Afghan, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Mauritius, Pakistani, Western, Middle Eastern and Arabic.
Hindu Wedding
A Hindu wedding day is a vibrant and culturally rich celebration that typically involves a series of rituals and ceremonies. While specific customs and traditions may vary depending on regional and family preferences, here is a general overview of what happens on a Hindu wedding day:

Pre-Wedding Rituals:

Mehendi Ceremony: Usually held a day or two before the wedding, the Mehendi ceremony involves applying intricate henna designs to the bride's hands and feet. It is a joyous occasion filled with music, dance, and celebration.

Sangeet Ceremony: This is a lively pre-wedding event where family and friends come together to sing, dance, and celebrate the upcoming union. It often includes performances, skits, and heartfelt speeches.

Wedding Day Rituals:

Groom's Arrival: The groom arrives at the wedding venue accompanied by a procession of family and friends, known as the Baraat. He is welcomed by the bride's family and traditionally rides a decorated horse or vehicle.

Vara Puja: Before the wedding ceremony begins, the groom is welcomed by the bride's family and honored with a ritual called Vara Puja. The bride's parents perform aarti (a ceremonial offering of light) and bless the groom.

Jai Mala (Exchange of Garlands): The bride and groom exchange floral garlands as a symbol of acceptance and mutual respect.

Kanyadaan: The bride's parents perform the sacred ritual of Kanyadaan, where they give away their daughter to the groom. It symbolizes the bride's parents' trust and support in the marriage.

Saptapadi (Seven Steps): The bride and groom take seven symbolic steps together around the sacred fire, each step representing a vow they make to each other for a happy and prosperous marriage.

Mangalsutra and Sindoor Ceremony: The groom places a sacred necklace (Mangalsutra) around the bride's neck and applies sindoor (vermilion) on her hair parting, symbolizing her marital status and commitment.

Ashirvad (Blessings): The newlyweds seek blessings from their elders and receive good wishes for a blissful married life.

Sikh Weddings

Roka: This is an informal engagement ceremony where the families of the bride and groom exchange gifts and blessings to formalize the union.

Shagan: The groom's family visits the bride's home to present gifts and blessings. The bride's family reciprocates with gifts for the groom.

Morning Prayer (Asa Di Var): The wedding day typically begins with the recitation of Asa Di Var, a morning prayer from the Sikh scripture, Guru Granth Sahib, at the Gurdwara (Sikh temple).

Milni: The families of the bride and groom meet and exchange greetings at the Gurdwara before the wedding ceremony. The elders from both sides embrace each other, symbolizing the union of the families.

Anand Karaj Ceremony: The Anand Karaj ceremony takes place in the Gurdwara and is conducted by a Sikh priest (Granthi). The bride and groom, along with their families and congregation, sit in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib.

Kirtan and Ardas: The ceremony begins with the singing of hymns (Kirtan) from the Guru Granth Sahib followed by the Ardas, a collective prayer seeking blessings for the couple.

Laavan: The main ritual of the Anand Karaj consists of the recitation of four hymns known as Laavan, composed by Guru Ram Das Ji. The bride and groom circle the Guru Granth Sahib four times, symbolizing their journey together through life's stages.

Prasad and Blessings: After the completion of the Laavan, Prasad (consecrated food) is distributed to the congregation. The couple receives blessings from the Guru Granth Sahib and seeks the blessings of the elders present.
